A brutal attack on emergency democracy, fundamental rights are suppressed: Kavinder Gupta

Jammu, June 24 (IANS). Former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Kavinder Gupta, in a special conversation with Ians called the distress a black chapter of Indian democracy. He said that the evening of June 25, 1975, when the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was implementing emergency in the country, it was a brutal attack on democracy. During this period, fundamental rights were taken away, the freedom of the press was abolished and the entire country was converted into jail. Not only a politician, but any person who spoke against the government was placed behind bars of jail. There was an atmosphere of panic. Police leaders earlier gave more instructions. Kavinder Gupta further said that the need was imposed on the country following the decision of the High Court in Allahabad against the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It was the black history of that time. Such a dictatorial atmosphere was created in the democratic country that people were forced to live under the shadow of fear. Kavinder Gupta also shared his personal experiences. He said he was active in works such as printing and wall writing at the time. He was arrested from home at night in the night. We were brutally murdered in prison. Seven days of detention were held in the police station and detained. Congress has always changed laws to its advantage, governments have demolished. The country will never forget that emergency. The 21 -month emergency was a black history for India. The congress took the country hostage. Forced sterilization, pressure on judges and officials, all of this was the reality of that time. The new generation must be made aware of this history, so that such a period never comes again. Sunil Gupta, who was a witness of the emergency, also remembered the horrors of that era. He said: “I was 14 years old. Indira Gandhi jailed the whole country. It was the black place of the congress on the land. Those who protested were tortured by putting them in jail. Four-five people of our home were arrested. I also arrested. He said: “The RSS is a patriotic organization, but it is also forbidden. Indira Gandhi had to carry the piece after the emergency was removed.” -Ians Aks/ABM shares this story tags
