When did medical science studies start in India
Trending India studied in India; There are hundreds of medical colleges in India today, but do you know what the first medical college was in the country? India’s first medical college Calcutta Medical College was founded in 1835 during British rule. The foundation was laid by Lord William Bentic. Its purpose was to teach Indian students to Western medicine, which was a new beginning at the time. Initially, only 20 students were selected. Many famous doctors came from here, whose contribution was invaluable in the Indian medical field. The human body was decorated for the first time in this college, which led to a revolution in medical education. In 1883, Kadambini Ganguly became the first female student to admit here, who later became the first female doctor in India. Hospitals such as Aden Hospital (1881), Ezra Hospital (1887) and Prince of Wales Block (1911) were linked to this college.
