China bans the import of poultry from Brazil due to bird flu
The Chinese authorities announced the ban on the import of all poultry products from Brazil after the discovery of bird flu in the country, which is the largest source of poultry in the world, which led to a strike of trade that was more than one billion dollars. The Chinese Customs Authority said in a statement published on Friday night that the decision included a complete ban on direct and indirect imports of poultry products and derivatives related to Brazil, as part of preventive measures to prevent the virus from entering the country. The commission also indicated that all the shipping of plants and animal waste from Brazil will be subject to compulsory cleansing procedures. The Chinese embargo threatens the export of Brazil to the comprehensive ban imposed by China, which is the largest importer of Brazilian chicken meat, which forms the future of state exports in South America. The decision comes at a time when the two countries are strengthening their relations despite the continuation of the global trade war that provoked US President Donald Trump. Earlier this month, Brazil suspended chicken shatters to China and the European Union for a period of 60 days, after discovering the first infected bird flu on a commercial farm in the country. According to the Ministry of Agriculture data, Brazil issued about a third of the export of chicken in the world and sent more than 10% of its production to China. Chinese customs data indicate that the amount of trade exchange between the two countries in this sector in the same year amounted to about $ 1.5 billion.
