58 killed due to heavy storm in Bihar, the announcement of the remuneration of Rs 4 Lakh

The powerful storm that came to Bihar with heavy rain and lightning on Thursday killed 58 people, 23 of whom died alone in the Nalanda district. Out of the total deaths, 35 people died due to the fall of trees or walls, while 23 others died from lightning. Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar, Nalanda district, confirmed the high deaths and loss of important property in his district. Shri Shubhankar spoke to the media on Friday, saying that 22 people were killed due to fall of trees or fall walls, and one person died of lightning. He said: “According to the instructions of the chief minister Nitish Kumar, all the affected families receive compensation of Rs 4-4 Lakh. Most of them have already received compensation, and the remaining will be paid by Friday afternoon.” Three to four injured persons are being treated at Sadar Hospital. The storm caused widespread destruction in Nalanda due to great damage to homes and crops in many areas. The DM said: “Our assessment teams are investigating the affected areas. Compensation will be given according to government rules. We have also submitted the death of five animals, and after -mortem is done to process compensation claims. The report of the injured or death of small animals is also reviewed.” The Infrastructure in Nalanda has done great damage to the infrastructure, where more than 18 kilometers of electric lines were damaged, more than 300 electric poles were uprooted and many transformers were destroyed. Shubhankar said: “42 teams of the electricity department are working to repair the offer. Partial recovery has already taken place, and the work to remove trees from the roads is expected to be completed by evening.” To prevent the disruption of the water supply, ten generators have been deployed overnight, and extra units are expected to come soon. The district magistrate also made clear that compensation is only given for residential and personal loss, not for commercial losses. He said: “The administration is working on a war foot to ensure that no people affected live without help.” Apart from Nalanda, five in Bhojpur, three died in Gaya and one person after falling trees or walls in the districts of Gopalganj, Arwal, Jehanabad, Patna and Muzaffarpur. There were 23 deaths due to lightning across the state four in Siwan, three in Jamui, two each in Saharsa, Araria and Saran and one person died in Patna, Jehanabad, Bhojpur, Darbhanga, Arwal, Gopalganj, Muzaffar, Katihar and Bhagalpur.
