315 People who have been arrested so far in Murshidabad violence have two minors also involved: Bengal police
Kolkata, April 18 (IANS). A total of 315 arrests have been made so far in the case of violence during protests against amendments in the Waqf Act last week in the Murshidabad district in Western Bengals, including two minors. Police in Western Bengals confirmed this in his report compiled under the command of a special bank of the Calcutta High Court. According to the report signed by Javed Shamim through the additional director -general of the state (law and order), a total of 315 people were arrested for turmoil and attempts to identify and capture others responsible for inciting violence. It was also mentioned in this report that no person was arrested except two minors released on bail to date. Police have so far blocked a total of 1,257 URL (uniform resource detection) to distribute incorrect information and rumors. The report said that the violence began on April 8, 2025 with a movement against the WAQF law on the PWD land under Raghunathganj police station. Suddenly, the crowd suddenly became uncontrollable and began to damage the government and public properties and attacked policemen. The report also said that the offenses also had deadly weapons and put weapons and ammunition of the policemen on duty. Police said the district intelligence branch reported that there was a possibility of excitement by some “residents” after the prayers of Juma in the old Dukbangla turn under the Raghunathganj police station under RaghunathGANJ police station and the Samserganj police station. The report rejects the demands of the state government and chief minister Mamata Banerjee to a large extent indicating that the “locals” were involved, saying that “outsiders” were behind the common violence last week in the areas of the Murshidabad district. It also raises the question of whether the information received from the District Intelligence branch was lightly recorded. According to the report, Hindu families who live in the ShamshermanJ police station in the Ghosphara area were specially targeted by a group of protesters against the Waqf Act, which was collected near a local mosque. The police report said: “The next day (on April 12, 2025) received information that a troubled crowd was meeting near the Kanchanatla Mosque and was trying to change the Hindu families in Ghoshpara among the Samserganj police station.” It is noteworthy that a special Bank of Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Raja Bassu Chaudhary of the Calcutta High Court ordered the evening of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in Murshidabad to deploy the evening of April 12. The court also said that if the CAPF had been placed earlier, the situation would not have been “serious” and “unstable”. -Ians Aks/AK
