Indian women's historical victory over Australia (Lead)
Mumbai, December 24 (IANS) India reached the target to win 75 runs after losing two wickets after Australia won 261 runs in the second innings on the fourth and final day of the only women’s test. India won the match by eight wickets. India also defeated England in the only Test by 347 runs. This is the first test victory of Indian women against Australia. In the ten Test matches played between the women’s teams of the two countries, India used to lose four and there were six draws. Australia started playing with 233 runs for five wickets yesterday. Sneh Rana and Rajeshwari Gaikwad each took two wickets, causing India’s women to cover 261 runs in the second inning, India scored a target of 75 runs in 18.4 overs to register the first historical victory. Sneh Rana received the player of the Match Award because he took a total of seven wickets in the match. He took 3/56 wickets in the first innings and 4/63 in the second inning. Rana took 2-6 wickets in five too much on Sunday morning, while Gaikwad took 2 wickets without giving runs, and took Australia’s last five wickets at the shaky stadium for only 28 runs in 15.4 overs. Australia’s batsmen could not control their tendency to wipe against Indian spinners, because in the second inning, five of their ten batsmen kneeled in front of this shot. India chased the target and lost opener Shefali Verma on a score of four runs in the first time. But Smriti Mandhana scored an unbeaten 38 with the help of six fours and took India to the destination of the victory. He added 51 runs for the second wicket with Richa Ghosh and 20 runs for the third wicket with Jemima Rodrigues. Richa Ghosh scored 13 and Jemima scored an unbeaten 12 runs.
