Lure Sabha approves president's reign in Manipur well, called on peace
The LOK Sabha on Thursday accepted a legal resolution confirming the implementation of the president’s rule in Manipur, in which all members outside the party line supported the decision, but criticized the Center for the State’s position. In response to a brief debate, Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah said that the government had taken all possible steps to bring back the normal state in the turbulent northeastern state. He said there was no violence in Manipur for the past four months. He said talking to Maetai and Cookie Communities is being held for quiet solutions. He said: “In general, the situation is peaceful. As long as people are in the camps, I would not say that the situation is satisfactory. The government takes every possible step to restore peace in Manipur.” The Minister of Home Affairs said ethnic violence in Manipur began the order of the state’s Supreme Court. He said: “The day the order came, we sent the central forces by air. There was no delay on our side (to act).” He said that in the violence that began in May 2023, 260 people died so far and 80 percent of them lost their lives in the first month. Shah said he did not want to compare the violence during the tenure of previous governments, but that he wanted to tell the house about the clashes between Naga and Cookie Communities during the five years in the 1990s. He said, “Sparkling violence continued for a decade, in which 750 people lost their lives. Cookie-paved collisions occurred in 1997-98 and 352 people killed. In the 1990s, more than 100 people were killed in the Maetai-Pangal clashes in the nineties. Share this story -tags
