Work behaviors

Work behaviors or as defined as (work ethics); It is a set of moral standards and values ​​that help individuals distinguish between correct matters, and the wrong behavior in their behavior within the work environment, and administrative thinkers are concerned with the concept of behaviors at work, and several definitions have emerged, including: a set of moral values ​​and rules that control the behavior of groups and individuals. The application of work behaviors is based on using a set of elements, namely:(٢)

  • Organizational culture: It is the behavioral and ethical framework that the facility uses in dealing with all parties in the work environment, and the culture in general includes a set of symbols, beliefs, values, and norms that prevail in a specific facility, and this culture is affected by major issues, namely:
    • The work environment in which the facility operates.
    • Strategic managers whose ideas affect all sections of the facility and its employees.
    • Experience of managers resulting from their previous experiences.
  • Ethics of the employee: It is a behavioral and moral system that contributes to the formation of the elements of the leadership and administrative personality at work, and morals are the special essences in man, and the commitment of managers and employees to behavioral and moral rules specified in the facility is a characteristic of health facilities, and this leads to the growth of facilities and individuals working in them, and preserves stability Its financial situation.
  • Special systems in the facility: They are ethical policies and principles that are all powers that contribute to building administrative ethics, and help to direct the behavior of work in a specific direction, and each of the facility’s systems also has its own impact that weakens or enhances the behavior of work.
  • The external audience: It is the fourth element of work behaviors, and it consists of customers, the government system, and the impact of the market, all of which contribute to building special morals in management, and helps to direct them towards a specific direction; Especially with increasing competition in the markets and the emergence of technological developments.

Work values

Work values ​​are professional, moral, teachings, and principles that contribute to identifying employees ’behavior, and help to establish the right path that encourages each employee to apply his job performance, and his role in the productive work environment for which he belongs, as the values ​​of work are the wall that prevents employees from making mistakes, and separates them from committing any violations of no violations It is compatible with their consciences and principles.

The values ​​of work are witnessing a difference between societies in general, and people in particular, but everyone agrees on the importance and necessity of any administrative facility; Specifically in countries that are concerned with building and developing themselves, institutions, companies, and economic and social environments; Because the values ​​of work are considered a guarantee to reach the highest production rates, and contribute to the presence of a loyal generation to work and loving its country.

The status and development of work

With the passage of years, the status of work differed among human peoples; Where each historical civilization had its own view of work and professions; Ancient human civilizations did not appear without reason, but rather a result of a continuous work of individuals who contributed to its construction. For example, the ancient Egyptian civilization relied on agricultural and industrial work; Which contributed to the prosperity of ancient Egypt that knew the industry of glass, wood, cement, weapons, and other types of industries. As for the ancient Babylon civilization, it was concerned with extracting minerals and hunting, and the Babylonian state was keen to determine wages and prices for individuals working in various professions.(١)

A group of commercial and industrial societies appeared in Europe during the Middle Ages; Which led to the emergence of many terms at that time; Where it appeared in the year 1120 AD the term worker, and then many other terms such as a merchant appeared; Which led to the increase in promoting the concept of work, but in the stage of modern economic thought, economists considered that work is the main source of production, and was associated with the phenomena of social life that emerged as a result of the growth of industrial production, so the meaning of work for individuals became all the methods and means that help to achieve income; By implementing an activity, application of behavior or use of energy that depends on a specific plan, and seeks to apply specific functions; In order to achieve a specific productive goal.(١)

The status of work in Islam

Work got an important position in Islam; Where many generous Quranic verses and noble hadiths mentioned the importance and status of work, and this is inferred by the words of God Almighty (So ​​when the prayers are spent, then spread in the earth, and seek the grace of God, and remember God, many, so that you may be successful).(٣) Islam was also interested in urging the pursuit of work; So that a person can gain the livelihood of his livelihood, and made him degrees of reward for sincerity and mastery in it, and he is inferred by the words of God Almighty (Whoever does righteousness from a male or female, and he is a believer, let us revive him with good life.(٤) These generous verses are evidence of the status obtained by the work in Islam; A person who is keen on work will live a decent life, and get a reward in the world and reward in the Hereafter, but in the noble Prophet’s Sunnah there are many hadiths that were mentioned about the importance and status of work, and from them the Messenger of God – may God bless him and grant him peace – said – (He never eats food, better than eating from the work of his hand, and that the Prophet of God, peace be upon him, was eating from the work of his hand).(٥)(١)
