Manipur: Security forces have arrested 16 militants, weapons and ammunition

Imphal, April 27 (IANS). The army and other security forces received 27 weapons, each, grenades, different ammunition and war -related goods in joint operations. Officials gave this information on Sunday. Security forces also arrested 16 militants from different organizations. A defense spokesman said the army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, ITBP and Manipur police have repaired 27 weapons as six districts -Churachandpur, Tennaul, IMPHAL -OOs, Senapati, Kakching and Vishnupur, many IED’s, pomegranates, different types of ammunition and ears. He reported that the repaired weapons AK series rifle, self-locking gun (SLR), sub-mash, .303 rifle, single-marmal gun, modified long-distance mortar (pumps) and improvised mortar. The spokesman said 16 cadres belonging to the Valley and the Hill-based militant groups were arrested as a result of various joint operations conducted by the Indian Army, Assam rifles and police in Manipur in the hilly and Valley districts, as well as a gun, cellphone, two-wheeled and currencies. The arrested cadres and recovered items were handed over to Manipur police. The Defense Pro said that these coordinated efforts by security forces reflect their unwavering commitment to maintain peace and safety in Manipur. Meanwhile, Assam Rifles has launched the Agnivar registration campaign under the Agnipath scheme in the Tangnaulal district bordering Myanmar. The defense spokesman said that informative sessions for youth are held in different towns, which provided detailed guidance on the benefits of involvement as qualifying criteria, selection process and aging. Assam Rifles ensured continuous support through essential resources, guidance and access to initial training.
