‘Bring Her Back’ Directors Reveal The Real-Life Tragedy That Inspired Film – ryan
The Directors or Talk to methe Philippou Brothers, are set to make their horror comeback in 2025 with Bring Her Back. The mysterious plot for the a24 movie has been kept under wraps, and the following official synopsis doesnt explain much: “A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the Secluded Home of their new foster mother.” However, during a preview event, Danny Philippou may have provided some details about the upcoming movie, saying that a horrific real-life event inspires him during the process of writing the movie. Bring Her Back Just got a little more terrifying.
Per the report by Bloody Disgusting, the Philippou Crew appeared at an event where a few lucky attendees were able to see the trailer for Bring Her Back. It was during the visit that danny revealed that a terrifying tragedy in the family occurred during writing, and he used it as inspiration for the movie:
“We were in the middle of writing brings her back, and my cousin lost her two year old, and we were in the hospital, and I was just seeing her on the bed, holding this kid, and the family were all around him, and they were holding his feet, and his hands, and his head, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms, and his arms. Everyone let him go.
Horror is a fun way to look at dark things like that. Like the idea of her never being okay ever again after that, that was an inspiration point. How far she would go, you know, to heal herself from it. And the idea of a never-mission grief cycle is terrifying to me, and seeing raw grief like that is terrifying. “

A24 Continues Its Unique Horror Run
A24’s Horror Catalog Keeps Growing in 2025, with Bring Her Back Being just one of several films on the slate from the independent movie studio that always delivers a different shade of the usual genres. 2024 SAW Horror Films Like I SAW The TV Glow, Love Lies Bleeding, Heretic, Maxxxine, and Y2keach of them proving that a24 keeps bending genre rules to great success. It seems 2025 to be any different. Audiences already got to sea Death of a unicornand while that one was a bit weird and critics didnn’t fully connect with it, it did provide that creative liberties remain untouched for the fortunate filmmakers who get the attention of the beloved distribution studio.
In 2023, Talk to me was effective enough for Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou to gain the trust of A24 executives (it was also a box office hit for the indie studio), and a sequel was immediately greenlit. Talk 2 Me is also on the roadmap of the YouTubers-Turned filmmakers, but first, they will have to again provide their value in the rocky territory of original horror with the very distressing Bring Her Back.
