Nevertheless, Tannos still refused to be sent home to Indonesia. “He submitted an expert, but the information was rejected on the basis of all exams, including the US (evidence presented by the Indonesian government),” the director -general of the General Legal Administration (AHU) of the Ministry of Law, Widodo, said when he was contacted on Sunday (8/17/2025). “If rejected, his position must be in a poor position and he must agree, but he still insists that his lawyer does not want to be extradited in Indonesia,” Widodo continued. After refusing to be sent home, Tannos experienced an extension of the detention period in Singapore. Widodo explained that the Indonesian government could not repatriate Tannos immediately. This follows the absence of a decision of the court in Singapore which states that Paul is being repatriated Tannos to the land. “Wait for the definite decision. Unless the court in Singapore states that it should be withdrawn, if not (there is a court decision), it may not,” Widodo said. Paul Tannos is one of the suspects in the E-KTP corruption case. He has been a refugee from the KPK since October 19, 2021. The escape of Paul Tannos ended earlier this year. He was arrested by the local authorities in Singapore on January 17, 2025. The arrest is based on a request submitted by the Indonesian authorities. According to the KPK, Paul had Tannos alias Thian Po Tjhin a passport from the Republic of Guinea-Bissau. The passport was used to release its status as the Indonesian State Burger (WNI). “There was an attempt by Tannos to recall Indonesian citizenship. Indonesian citizenship was revoked and he became a Guinea-Bissau-Burger,” acting acting and execution of KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu in Jakarta said on Wednesday (6/8) by Antara. Asep said Tannos’ efforts were rejected by the Guinea-Bissau government because they were in trouble. Tannos got a passport from the Guinea-Bissau because the country allowed two citizens. “Guinea-Bissau is a country that enables people to have two citizenship. So it can be double citizenship,” he explained. (YGS/IDH)
