All seven NCP MLAs in Nagaland joined NDPP, Ajit Pawar said, 'No work has been done'

Pune, June 1 (IANS). All seven MAs of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Nagaland joined the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on Saturday. The move won an absolute majority in the 60 -member Nagaland meeting, led by the cousin of Chief Minister Rio. The number of NDPP -MAs increased from 25 to 32, which made the party’s position stronger. This incident brought a new turn into Nagaland politics. This move of NCP MLAs is considered the strength of the ruling alliance in the state. In the 2023 elections, NDPP won 25 seats, while the ally won BJP 12 seats. At the same time, NCP recorded its presence as the third largest party with seven seats. NCP national President Ajit Pawar responded to the development, saying that Nagaland MLAs met him some time ago. Pawar said: “He met me at the Devgiri Bungalow and shared his problems. He complained that he had no work.” He said that the responsibility of states was given to different leaders in NCP. In light of the complaints of the MLAs, he also spoke to the chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, as many areas of Nagaland are next to Assam. The Minister of Assam gave the assurance that he would discuss the issue with the Nagaland Chief Minister Rio. At the same time, after this whole incident, a party of NCP leaders left Kohima and talked to the leaders of the party’s Nagaland unit and prepared the report and submitted it to Ajit Pawar. It is noteworthy that Nagaland’s unit supported Ajit Pawar faction after a break in NCP led by Sharad Pawar. In the 2023 election, the NCP showed its strong presence in the state by winning seven seats, but now the party’s situation has weakened because of these MLAs that joined the NDPP. -Ians Aks/Aques Share This Story -Tags
