The families of eight Pakistani citizens killed in Iran waiting for the return of corpses
Islamabad, April 14 (IANS). After the brutal murder of eight Pakistani citizens in Mehristan, Iran, Islamabad began to investigate diplomatic level. Meanwhile, the families of the deceased belonging to the Bahawalpur district Punjab have called on the government to immediately bring back the bodies of their loved ones so that the last rituals can be performed. The incident occurred in the Mehristan area of Iran, approximately 230 km from the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The hands and feet of the dead are tied, making it clear that it was a well -planned murder. The Baloch Pearatist Organization Baloch Nationalist Army (BNA) accepted responsibility for the attack. The organization says the victims have been targeted due to the coming from the province of Punjab. All the deceased was from the same family and used to work in a workshop as a car mechanic. Family members say they are shocked and want to return the bodies as soon as possible. The family said: “We want their bodies to be brought back immediately so that we can bury them and celebrate their tragic downfall.” According to the information received, all the eight people went to Iran illegally about seven years ago. A family member said: ‘Nadeem would be married in a few days. We want our government to contact the Iranian officials and bring the bodies back immediately. ‘The Pakistan government has fully investigated the murder of Iranian officials and demanded the full cooperation to punish the culprits and immediate return of the bodies. The statement issued by the foreign office said: “About the instructions of the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs, our Cannes in Tehran and our Consulat in Zahidan are in contact with Iranian officials to ensure a thorough investigation and to secure early returns to the bodies of the victims.” Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also expressed deep concern about this merciless murder. The Iranian embassy in Islamabad condemned the attack and called it “inhumane and cowardly” and emphasized the need for joint effort against terrorism.
