Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of the Western Bengals, said on Saturday that the WAQF (Amendment Act) would not be implemented in Western Bengals. Meanwhile, the state’s leader of the opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari welcomed the order of the Calcutta High Court to deploy the central forces in Murshidabad. As many as 110 people were arrested earlier in connection with the violence that broke out in parts of West Bengal during a protest march on WAQF (Amendment Act) Friday. A special bank of the Calcutta High Court on Saturday ordered that the central forces “immediately” deployed in the aftermath of widespread violence in the district during the protests against the WAQF (amendment) law. The Calcutta High Court, in a few districts of Western Bengal, has a blind eye for reports on vandalism in a few districts of Western Bengals and the Calcutta High Court in Murshidabad. The court noted that incidents, apart from Murshidabad, in Amtala in the South24 Parganas district, were reported in the North -24 Parganas district and in Champdani in Hooghly. 2. The BSF has deployed five companies to support state police operations, the IG South Bengal border Karni Singh Shekhawat said on Saturday. He said the BSF will act in collaboration with the police and is willing to send more powers if needed to help restore peace in the region. 3. BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari said: ‘We wrote a letter to the governor for the deployment of the central powers and the chief secretary and minister of the interior. I also requested the CM. But she didn’t listen, so I filled the court. I am very grateful for the Calcutta High Court.
