Iraq agrees with a UK company to build the largest regional data center

Iraq is close to signing an agreement with the British company “GCX” to build the largest local data center in the city of Basra, and is aimed at building another data center in the center and north of the country, according to the Minister of Communications Hayam Al -Yasiri in an interview with “Al -Sharq”. The minister said the data centers completed the communications infrastructure that was improved by switching to the marine cables, adding that the discussions with a number of international companies were underway to agree on projects to build Internet root connection points, expected the agreements to be signed with them soon.
