Agricultural imports traders have started a week-long strike with protest against new seed law

Against the changes made in the Seeds Act (Haryana Amendment Act), 2025 and the Pesticides Act, seeds, pesticides and fertilizers from all over Haryana launched a week’s strike that closed more than 1400 stores in districts such as Panipat, Karnal and Sonipat. The protest march began after a state level meeting held in Kurukshetra on Sunday, where the associations unanimously decided to oppose the new law by stopping operations across the state. Traders claim that the amended law has a lot and impractical fine, which includes a fine of Rs 3 lakh for a three -year imprisonment and selling inferior products -which is now classified as a non -available offense. In Sonepat, more than 600 traders participated under the auspices of Sonipat Seed and Pesticide Association. Union President Satish Kumar Biny said: “Both farmers and shop owners will suffer losses because of this law. The government must reconsider its decision.” “We have already submitted a memorandum at BJP State President Mohan Lal Badoli and the Mayor of Sonepat Rajiv Jain.” In Panipat, the merchants gathered on the Sanoli road under the Panipat seed and pesticide association and raised slogans against the law. Trade union member Jatin Juneja said: “The government has made strict terms that shop owners consider like criminals.” “We’re not terrorists. This law is unfair and must be withdrawn. ‘ The Bandh also became the Karnal district, where all 850 stores, including about 125 stores in the city, were closed. Ramkumar Gupta, president of the Karnal fertilizer, pesticides and seed dealers’ association, said: “The law has improper streams that make the business impossible.
