43.3 Lakh Crore Rupees of the DBT scheme so far to the general public's account
New -Delhi, April 21 (IANS). So far, the central government has transferred an amount of Rs 43.3 Lakh Crore to the account of the general public by the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. This led to improvement in transparency. At the same time, success has been achieved with the stop of leaks and government funds also reach the beneficiary directly. According to the government’s data, the government transferred an amount of Rs 43,35,808 crore to the general public until April 21. In FY 25 alone, the center transferred a subsidy of Rs 6.60 Lakh Crore through DBT. In February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 19th installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme to 9.8 Crore farmers. In this, an amount of more than Rs 22,000 crore was transferred directly by DBT without any middleman. According to the latest report, the arrival of the DBT system contributed to preventing leakage and saved Rs 3.48 Lakh -Crore. Since the launch of this system launched by the PM Modi government, the beneficiary cover has registered an increase of 16 times from 11 crore to 176 crore. Through the DBT system, the money goes directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. As a result, the theft of funds was banned, which led to subsidy allocation in total expenses dropped from 16 percent to 9 percent. The study said: “DBT ensured accuracy for financing the leak and the promotion of transparency. With that, welfare distribution with DBT was defined again.” In 2009-10, the welfare budget recorded a decrease in subsidy award despite an increase of Rs 8.5 Lakh Crore from Rs 2.1 Lakh Crore to Rs 2023-24, which reflects the success of DBT. The base-linked verification helped reduce false beneficiaries, which led to the expansion of coverage without fiscal expenses. -Ians ABS/CBT Share this story Tags
