3 Jan – Actor and presenter Wong He believes that it is better for one to start over in a stranger’s land if no changes are made to the current situation in Hong Kong.
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who sat down for an interview, spoke about the recent socio-political climate in the city, saying that the Hong Kong senior government officials seemed to be playing a different game nowadays that nothing feels familiar anymore.
“You’re already feeling like a stranger, so better to start over at a stranger’s land. But I am already over 50 years old. I lack the energy and spirit. For those in the early 30 and under 50, I would advise them to emigrate,” he said.
When mentioned that encouraging others to emigrate while pronouncing love for Hong Kong at the same time would render the patriotic sentiment meaningless, Wong said, “Hong Kong is not necessarily the land. It can be one’s attitude on life, philosophy, or race. Everybody has their own definition.”
“I love the Hong Kong of my memory, the Hong Kong that I experienced. You can physically leave the land and love Hong Kong at the same time,” he added.
