President Trump on Tuesday called top House Democrats “stone cold CRAZY” for requesting documents from 81 people as part of sprawling investigations into his administration, campaign and finances.
“Now that they realize the only Collusion with Russia was done by Crooked Hillary Clinton & the Democrats, Nadler, Schiff and the Dem heads of the Committees have gone stone cold CRAZY. 81 letter sent to innocent people to harass them. They won’t get ANYTHING done for our Country!” Trump wrote on his Twitter page in a series of postings about the investigations.
Committees chaired by Reps. Jerrold Nadler and Adam Schiff were among House panels seeking more information from individuals and entities associated with Trump on Monday.
“The greatest overreach in the history of our Country. The Dems are obstructing justice and will not get anything done. A big, fat, fishing expedition desperately in search
of a crime, when in fact the real crime is what the Dems are doing, and have done!” he said.
In another, he declared: “PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!”
The House Judiciary Committee run by Nadler requested documents from 81 people – including Donald Trump Jr., Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg and White House adviser and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Schiff’s House Intelligence Committee is seeking documents and interviews with officials related to Trump’s communications with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The White House on Monday blasted House Democrats, accusing them of launching politically-partisan investigations into Trump.
“The Democrats are more interested in pathetic political games and catering to a radical, leftist base than on producing results for our citizens,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement. “The Democrats are not after the truth, they are after the president.”
