  1. Why is hermes' staff (which is the symbol for commerce and trade/voyage) used for "medical advances"? Instead of the rod of asclepius? Seems ignorant for a video that wishes to battle ignorance.

  2. alternative medicinenounnoun: alternative medicineany of a range of medical therapies that are not regarded as orthodox by the medical profession, such as herbalism, naturopathy, and crystal healing.
Magnesium is a proven alternative medicine to antidepressants and sleepmedication. Just one example. Price is about one tenth of the standard medicine if you are worried about that 😉If you want to preach to the choir you better get your facts straight.

  3. Oh Fuck Yes!  I wish all people I have to meet would be required to absorb this before I am required to be closed in a room with them.  .."and carve fancy that on the side of my cock."  I'm relieved that Tim Minchin is heterosexual, because if he was gay, I'd have to cross a damn ocean to try and seduce him.

  4. Next dinner lightening party take down the priestly doctors killing Garth Daniels and millions of other people forcibly for disgusting profits, or it's all just wine and waffle, and lends itself to eugenicists that try to pass themselves off as atheists. The priestly doctor spouts just as much bullshit as Storm, and if you don't know that, go let your wife have a mesh implant, or visit Australia and have your child given SSRIs that are banned in UK, and silence the child trying to speak out against paedophiles.

  5. loved this the first time i saw this, but now i am thinking about the idea that Storm is a shown as a woman (not to mention the continuous references to her appearance and objectifying her body) and Tim/Rational person is shown as a man – just makes me feel uneasy about the undertones of this. it's less about that these undertones are there in this work and more about how this is a pattern, and i hadn't realized that it was also there in one of my faves.

  6. This is literally what changed my whole opinion about Tim Minchin, this is beyond brilliant… I find mtself watching it a xouple of times every year… it almost sets things straight again when normal life can delude at times. Tha ks mate this is pure genius!!

  7. Both the people in this video were total straw men. The atheist guy was a stereotypical condescending asshole and Storm was the stereotypical "willfully ignorant" person.
There are actually people out there who believe in the sorts of spiritual ideas she does while also supporting science, myself included. Wicca and other forms of modern Paganism, for instance, believe that magic adheres to natural laws rather than it being the instantaneous manifestation/transformation of things that Hollywood presents.

Also, I've never understood the philosophy of, "It gives me hope that we're all insignificant, unimportant bits of carbon". How? That's depressing as fuck. Not that you have to flip the coin over and believe in a literal giant in the sky to find meaning in life, but if we're all "insignificant and unimportant" and all our descendants/achievements will eventually be, too, why bother with anything?
