  1. UHaul isn’t a truck, at least not that one. It’s considered a moving van. This is just an unfortunate case of not knowing PA roadways. Guessing this is up by Wissahickon Park?

  2. LPT: When driving a moving “van” especially one that is 15’ or bigger, download an app like TruckerMap for your GPS directions.

These are GPS apps specifically designed for trucks and will route you around roads you shouldn’t be on due to vehicle and height restrictions.

I have found myself moving fairly often, and I finally searched and found this app after the third time I had to “guess my own route” to force the GPS to take me around a low bridge or not use major roadways with truck restrictions.

  3. To everyone in this thread saying “hope he got insurance” I recently rented a Uhaul and even the highest tier insurance specifically excludes overhead collisions. My man is gonna be buying Uhaul a new truck.

  4. No truck signs are meant for larger commercial vehicles due to their length, weight, and height, unless stated otherwise. There are usually signs stating the limits and what lane to be in for lower hanging bridges or narrowing roads or tunnels.

Uhauls are not considered a commercial vehicle. Anyone over the age of 16(with guardian) or 18 or older can rent one. No special licensing or permits needed.

I think this guy just wasn’t watching for road signs.

  5. New England parkways are bullshit man. There’s always like one small sign to warn you about low bridges, and if you don’t exit right then and there, you’re fucked.

  6. We can call him an idiot but this honestly sucks. He may have his entire life in the back of that truck.

Sure, he should have been more aware but I feel a little pity for him.

  7. Uhaul: sir you will have to pay for this damage

customer: that scratch was on the truck when I picked it up

    Uhaul: …..

customer: I don’t think I should be charged for something that was already there.

  8. Better yet, why put a road there in the first place with that low of clearance? Basically flirting with a car wreck daily with that sort of nonsense. Take it down a lane and expand it later on.

  9. Happens all the time out here on Long Island with the parkways. Robert Moses, being the insufferable racist he was, made the bridges too low intentionally so inner-city minorities couldn’t take buses to the beaches out here. Nowadays it just means every week an out of state tractor trailer ignores the flashing lights and multiple signs to not get on the parkways and inevitably opens their trailer like a sardine can on the first bridge……..which happens to be next to my house….
