Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) raced to a huge tally early into counting for the Delhi election and established a steady lead, but the party’s number two leader, Manish Sisodia, had a tense day in a see-saw battle in his constituency. He finally won by a margin of over 2,000 votes. Manish Sisodia was in a close contest with his nearest rival, the BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi.

Counting is underway in Karnataka even as the Congress-JD(S) government completes one year today. As per early trends, the BJP is leading in Bengaluru South where the party has fielded its star candidate Tejasvi Surya. Congress’s Abhishek Manu Singhvi says the party will get a clear and decisive win in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In Chhattisgarh, Mr Singhvi says there will be a neck-to neck competition in the state that might lead to a post-poll arrangement. He also says in Madhya Pradesh there is large bulk of things yet to come. He has no doubts about the Rajasthan win and although he is pessimistic about Telangana, he thinks Congress will do very well in the state. On the failed BSP alliance, he says the BSP is overrated in Rajasthan and perhaps in Chhattisgarh as well. He also thinks the third group in the states which Congress does not win “will not support BJP” and thus they will be in “Congress’s kitty” if push comes to shove.

CP Joshi spoke about his controversial comment on “Brahmins are the best to understand Hinduism ” saying BJP propagated a 30 second clip from a 40 minute speech. On apologizing for the comment, Mr Joshi said as a true “Congress soldier” he did what his party leader asked him to. Jharkhand Election Results 2019: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress alliance took a lead over the ruling BJP as votes cast for the Jharkhand election were counted on Monday. At least three exit polls have predicted a win for the Congress-JMM-Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alliance. Elections were conducted in 81 assembly seats of the state in five phases from November 30 to December 20. In the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year, BJP had won 11 seats out of 14 in the state.
