Counting of votes is underway in the Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections. Exit polls have predicted a Super Sunday for the BJP and early leads show the party more or less holding on to gains it made in the general elections earlier this year, when it posted big wins in both states.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that she is pleased with Haryana and Maharashtra Election Results. “We also are happy about the fact that in Uttar Pradesh by-polls, our vote percentage has increased,” she added. Congress is leading on 29 of 90 seats in Haryana and 46 of 288 seats in Maharashtra, with both states showing an upward trend for the party from previous assembly elections.
