Jharkhand Election Results 2019: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress alliance took a lead over the ruling BJP as votes cast for the Jharkhand election were counted on Monday. At least three exit polls have predicted a win for the Congress-JMM-Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alliance. Elections were conducted in 81 assembly seats of the state in five phases from November 30 to December 20.

As the five phases of the Jharkhand Assembly polls concluded on Friday, all the contending political parties have now braced up for the counting of votes, which is taking place today. The Election Commission has made arrangements for counting at all the districts headquarters. The first result is expected around 1 pm but the trends will begin from 8 am onward.

At least three exit polls have predicted a win for the Congress-JMM-Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alliance. Elections were conducted in 81 assembly seats of the state in five phases from November 30 to December 20. In the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year, BJP had won 11 seats out of 14 in the state.

The counting of votes for 81 Jharkhand Assembly seats, which went to polls in five phases from November 30 to December 20, has commenced. As per the initial trends, BJP is leading from 25 seats whereas Congress-JMM alliance is leading in 27 seats.
The hot seat, which will be the centre of attraction, will be Jamshedpur East. Chief Minister Raghubar Das has been winning this seat since 1995. He is up against ex-cabinet colleague Saryu Rai. Saryu Rai turned rebellion after his ticket was put on hold by the party.
The other important seats are Dumka and Barhet from where JMM Executive President and former Chief Minister is contesting. He is pitted against Social Welfare Minister Louis Marandi at Dumka.
Former Chief Minister and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajantarik (JVM-P) President Babulal Marandi is fighting from Dhanwar Assembly seat.
The exit polls indicated an edge to JMM and Congress alliance.
BJP, however, is confident of returning to power.
Jharkhand Assembly election results are also being seen as a litmus test for the BJP amid a nationwide outrage over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and National Register of Citizens.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-Congress alliance had a decisive victory in Jharkhand as votes had been counted on Monday, leaving the BJP with one other large state loss this 12 months. The BJP conceded defeat, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeting his “greatest needs” to the JMM-led alliance. The JMM has received 30 seats and the Congress 16 whereas the BJP acquired 25.
