MidCoast Indivisible Town Hall meeting for Senator Susan Collins

As of October 2019, it has been 2 years and 6 months since we held a town hall for Senator Susan Collins here in Midcoast Maine. We repeatedly invited Senator Collins to the town hall in Thomaston, Maine, but she refused to attend. Her staff said that Mainers would be uncouth at a town hall and that a few voices would dominate. We organized a town hall at which everyone who wished to ask a question could, without exception, and at which we acted in the historical tradition of civility in Maine. And yet Senator Collins refused to attend. On April 28, 2017, we then sent Senator Susan Collins and multiple staffers a copy of this video record of the event and specifically asked Senator Collins and her staff if they would respond to indicate how they would respond to her constituent’s questions. We never heard a response until, at a September 27 2019 constituent hour, we asked why Senator Collins and her staff had not responded. The staffer at the constituent hour said she’d look into it.

As of October 2019, 2 years and 6 months after the town hall, we are still waiting for answers to these questions. Stay tuned for an update.
