LeBron James showed his love for Nipsey Hussle on Thursday night as the Los Angeles Lakers held a moment of silence for the slain rapper.
The star forward showed up to the Staples Center in a black shirt bearing the longtime Lakers fan’s face.
He also shared a message on Instagram on Sunday, the day Hussle was shot dead in front of his clothing store in LA.
“Just spoke with you the other day on text bro! Telling you how proud I was of you and how I was gone get you to more Laker games next season,” James wrote. “Been A Stand Up dude from Day 1. May you rest in PARADISE Young King ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ This One Hurts Big Time!”
Hussle, an LA native, was a frequent courtside fixture at Lakers games.
Before the game against the Golden State Warriors, the rapper was remembered in a touching tribute.
“Entrepreneur, rapper, and community activist Nipsey Hussle tragically passed away at the age of 33,” the announcer told the crowd. “From his work within local schools, creating business in LA, and promoting better life choices, Nipsey had a lasting impact on bettering our entire Los Angeles community. Please join the Warriors, the Lakers, and the entire NBA family in a moment of silence for the late Nipsey Hussle.”
The Lakers also displayed a jersey with Hussle’s name and the number 1 signed by the team.
