‘Billion dollar handshakes’: Harry and Meghan headed for massive payday

All has been relatively quiet on the Megxit front as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex settle into their North American life, but it looks like the pair could be stepping back into the spotlight sooner than we thought.

The latest buzz around the ex-senior royals is that the pair have been chatting to banking giant Goldman Sachs about future speaking appearances, which historically come along with a very lucrative trajectory.

A royal source revealed to The Mirror that contact with Goldman began in November, around the time Harry and Meghan said they were going to quit the royal family.

A PR expert is advising that if the pair embark on appearances with the bank they could stand to earn billions, though the talks themselves are unpaid appearances.

“They’re going to earn fortunes, whether through speeches or ambassador work – these are $1 billion handshakes,” PR consultant expert Mark Borkowski told the news outlet.

Speech series features famous faces galore

The huge firm has a jaw-dropping list of speakers who appear unpaid at various corporate events.

They include huge names from Gwyneth Paltrow to Karlie Kloss and David Beckham.

Experts say the appearances are huge moments for the entrepreneurs and big-name personalities who speak, paving the way for industry connections only the world’s most prolific banking giant can offer.

An appearance from the pair would not be a first for the bank, who has previously featured Princess Firyal of Jordan, former First Lady Barbra Bush and others involved in state representation and leadership.

No confirmation has yet come from the duo, and Buckingham Palace will not comment on their private schedules, The Sun reported.

Harry and Meghan have been enjoying a break from the headlines, after a tumultuous month of fallout from their sudden, and unexpected, announcement that they would step back from the royal family.

Harry joined his wife and baby Archie in Canada back in January after wrapping up negotiations with his family and delivering a powerful final speech in which he shared his side of the story.
