Clarification out of the way, I always stay far away from big trucks. There is no possible interaction that can happen where you will end up on top, or even break even. No arguing physics.
Glad you weren’t hurt. Glad there was no accident. Rack that up as a lesson learned. I always give big trucks like this and motorcyclist (for different reasons) as much room as I can.

If you check the map, from that point on the highway changes from 2 lanes to 3 lanes, it’s not even a short merging lane but a normal highway lane.
