H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Said bin Saif al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, will inaugurate Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped Children in the wilayat of Liwa in North Batinah on Monday.
The RO250,000-project has been funded by Jusoor Foundation, as part of the corporate social responsibility programme of its founding companies, Orpic, Sohar Aluminium and Vale. The execution of the project was done by Jusoor Foundation in accordance with the principle of sustainability and public benefit.
The centre has been built on an area of 1,200sq m, and it will provide shelter to 120 children. The centre will provide a number of educational, cultural and psychological development programmes for children with special needs in the age group of 1 to 14 years. The programme is aimed at rehabilitating them psychologically and physically.
The centre’s rehabilitation programmes will deal with all mental disabilities and also offer physical therapy programmes for children with autism spectrum disorder and cerebral palsy. The Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped Children in Liwa is part of a series of sustainable social projects adopted by Jusoor Foundation.
