Listen to Ep #1 – 2006 BCS Championship Game – Texas Longhorns vs USC Trojans from Distant Replay in Apple Podcasts.
On episode 1 of the Distant Replay Podcast we look back at the 2006 BCS National Championship Game the Texas Longhorns vs the USC Trojans. Join us as we discuss what is still one of the greatest college football games ever played. The players, the venue, the finish. This game had it all.
The 2006 BCS National Championship Game featured a USC team with two Heisman winners in the backfield – Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush. Pete Carroll’s team won the BCS title the year prior and was the top team in the country all season.
On the other side of the field you had Mack Brown’s Texas Longhorns starring Vince Young. The dual-threat quarterback had just finished second in Heisman Trophy voting just a month earlier and looked like he carried that chip on his shoulder into this game.
Don’t forget about the assistants in this game, which were headlined by Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian on the USC sideline.
