From the desert to the stage!
Actor, singer, performer and all around triple threat Hugh Jackman spent this weekend in the UAE. The Greatest Showman actor jetted to Dubai to celebrate the world’s most inspirational educators at the Global Teacher Prize, where one teacher will be awarded AED 3.67 million for their hard work.
Ahead of his appearance at The Assembly concert at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, Hugh took to Instagram to share some of his adventures in the Emirates, which included a trip to the capital. In the first video that the actor shared, he is seen holding a falcon while out in the desert.
In another video, the Wolverine actor teased fans about a potential performance (he wasn’t part of the musical line up) where he could be heard saying, “We’re in Dubai, in the Empty Quarte. We’re rehearsing really hard getting ready for the show, but as we say in Australia, you’ve got to work hard but you’ve also got to play hard too, so we are doing a little dune buggying.â€
The final post from his trip included a shot from his visit to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque. After all, did you really visit the UAE if you didn’t stop by the incredible Mosque? Hugh and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, who donned a hijab for the trip, posed in front of the Mosque for a picture which he captioned, “Thank you for an extraordinary visit.â€
Last month, Hugh announced the 10 finalists who are up for the AED 3.67 million award in a video, where he described them as the “real superheroesâ€. “Since the launch of the Global Teacher Prize in Dubai just five years ago it has gone on to inspire over 30 national teacher prizes, unearthing thousands of stories of heroes that have transformed young people’s lives,†he said.
The actor did take to the stage yesterday to perform some of the hits from the chart-topping soundtrack of The Greatest Showman. Other stars who took to the stage for The Assembly concert were girlband Little Mix, Rita Ora and Liam Payne will also attend the annual awards.
