Jess Glynne takes off makeup on stage [Video]

The 29-year-old singer took off her make-up live on stage in the middle of her performance of hit single, ‘Thursday’.

During the line “I won’t wear make-up on Thursday, Cause who I am is enough”, she pulled off one of her false eyelashes, followed by the second one.

She then reached for a round face cloth and wiped her lipstick off, before removing part of her eyeshadow with her fingers.

The drama heightened as Glynne and her backing singers sat down at mirrors and began to remove the rest of their make-up with wash cloths.

Glynne later shared the moment on her Instagram account to her 704,000 followers, and received an overwhelmingly positive response.

One person commented, “This was such a power performance”, while another wrote, “Just wow! This generation of girls is so lucky to have Jess lighting the way … goodbye Victoria secrets.. hello acceptance& inclusion for all”.

Glynne certainly caused a stir at the Brits last night, she isn’t the first celebrity to shun make-up in public.

Taylor Swift removed fake eyelashes on-stage during the Sydney stop of her Reputation tour on 2 November last year.

More recently, Grammys host Alicia Keys turned up make-up free at the event on 10 February. The singer was praised for her “flawless” no make-up look which she later paired with a multi-coloured head wrap.

Meanwhile, over in South Korea, a now-viral trend called the “Escape the Corset” movement has seen women destroying their make-up.
