23 Mar – Hong Kong actor Alex Fong recently admitted that his decision to sign with Shaw Brothers has nothing to do with the company’s hefty offer, but for the opportunity it brings.
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who signed with the company earlier, shared that he had the opportunity to talk to Shaw Brothers’ executive director Elaine Lok after filming “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!” and agreed on a collaboration.
“I think that the most important thing when you are an actor is to have a manager. I have been working for the past couple of years without one, and it felt like I have “no home” in Hong Kong,” he said.
Alex also stated that a lot of people thought he has retired from acting after spending a lot of time at his swimming academy and holding art exhibits instead of acting.
“Acting is my actual career. Teaching swimming classes is just an interest,” he said.
When asked if Shaw offered him a hefty fee to sign with them, Alex said that the remuneration is not the most important thing for him.
“I don’t need that much money. What’s important is the opportunity. It’s all about trust. I hope that I would get the chance to work in action films, like maybe a part in “Flying Tiger II”,” he said.
