*WARNING: POTENTIALLY GRAPHIC PICTURES OF REALLY OLD TONGUES*
Multiple jars of human tongues have been found in a Florida home during an inspection of its foundations.
The white containers are believed to have belonged to Dr Ronald Baughman, a pathologist who was working at the University of Florida back in the 1960s and ’70s.
According to WCJB, Dr Baughman said he intended to use the specimens during additional research and stored the tongues in the crawl space of the house he shared with his now ex-wife, Mary.
The pair say they had completely forgotten about about the containers being under the house.
The jars are all labelled with names and dates, and reportedly hold around a gallon of human remains. They were found during an inspection of the house, which is situated in Gainesville, Florida.
Shortly after the creepy discovery, a man who claims to be a home inspector called Bryce posted some pictures to Reddit.
He told LADbible: “The crawlspace is a dark dirty space under some houses that folks typically find to be very claustrophobic. As a foundation inspector I crawl through these spaces on my stomach to assess structural damage.
“Under this particular house I discovered over half a dozen plastic gallon sized jars with metal lids. Each jar had a handwritten first name on its exterior. One jar’s lid was missing due to rust and I shone my flashlight inside to see a large plastic bag and what I thought were bones.”
He continued: “I removed the bag which was heavily stained on its interior. I had to manipulate the bag to get the contents to a spot of the bag that was still see-through.
“I can’t tell you how relieved I am to learn that they belonged to a renowned physician who had authority to posses them and had simply forgotten them. I’m so relieved that they weren’t little innocent victims.”
According to WCJB, police have said that it doesn’t appear any criminal activity is associated with the tongues but the investigation is still ongoing.
Gainesville Police Department spokesperson Jorge Campos told the news outlet: ” We’ve got no indication that they were trying to hide anything from us or be deceptive about anything.
“They’ve been forthcoming from the get-go. That’s why in our preliminary investigation we don’t think we have anything criminal, we just need to verify everything.”
