Dancing On Ice star Jorgie Porter on spending more time with boyfriend James Atherton and going on tour

HOLLYOAKS star Jorgie Porter said today she was enjoying spending more time with her boyfriend James Atherton now Dancing On Ice has finished.

The actress, who stars with James on the Liverpool-made soap, admitted she was stunned at how well she did on the series.

She revealed she was proud to get to the final, coming second to Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden and was ready for the best bit – the Dancing On Ice tour.

Jorgie, who plays Theresa McQueen in the Channel 4 show, had to fit in her ice training around her 12 hour-days on set in Childwall.

She said: “It’s good to be able to go for a nice meal with James.

“It’s the simplest things like meeting up with people who I’d not seen for a long time and not had chance to catch up with. And just being in the sunshine. I was in the studio and at the rink a lot so I’d not had fresh air in my face.”

But Jorgie isn’t complaining. She said she loved every minute of ITV1’s Dancing On Ice – even the early days when she was “like Bambi on ice.”

The 24-year-old said: “No way did I think I’d get that far. I thought I’d go out in the fourth week.

“I used to skate round really fast but I didn’t know how to stop so I just used to bang into the barriers.

“I loved the skating and I really wanted to do the tour. I just wanted to try hard and prove myself and have a lot of fun.

“People have said that doing the tour is the best bit and I think ‘wow the show was really good so it’s going to be great’.

“There will be no pressure on the tour. I got that upset feeling every weekend thinking ‘am I going to fall over on live TV?’ and then seeing one of my friends go home.

“I’ve certainly grown up a lot since doing the show.”

Jorgie will be joined on tour by her celebrity ice dancing pals including Liverpool actress Jennifer Ellison and Scouse Sugababe Heidi Range.

And she is hoping to have lots of friendly faces from Lime Pictures when it comes to the city’s ECHO arena in May this year.

She said: “Everyone at Hollyoaks has been so supportive and all the crew were saying to me I was robbed. They thought I’d be upset that I didn’t win but I got to the final.”

The Dancing on Ice Live Tour 2012 comes to Liverpool on May 1 and May 2. Call the ECHO arena ticketline on 0844 800 3680.
