Billie Eilish Surprises Fan On Roman Kemp’s Capital Show

Billie Eilish is one of the biggest pop stars – if not the biggest – in the world right now. Now, fresh off the back of her Brit award win, she surprised a young fan who has been going through a tough time.

Marissa is a full-time carer for her diabetic mother, as well as her brother who has learning difficulties. The 16-year-old was a guest on Roman Kemp’s breakfast show on Capital FM this morning (20 February) and opened up about her life.

She said: “Balancing out home life as a young carer, school life with GCSEs, social life with my friends who aren’t going through the same thing I am…

“I have lovely friends but they don’t understand. They’re not young carers, so they’re not in my position. They can’t relate to me but they will always be there to support me if I’m down.

“But they’re never really going to know what it’s like to be in my shoes.”

The teenager then went on to explain how the ‘Bad Guy’ singer had helped her get through some of the darkest moments in her life.

“She’s just really inspiring,” she said. “Her music is the type of thing that whenever you’re down and depressed and you’ve had a long day, just go into my room, lie down in my bed and blast up the volume. I don’t care if I go deaf.”

As Marissa discussed her love for Eilish, the singer crept slowly into the studio and sat behind the young fan.

“I’ve seen her interviews and I know she’s had a tough life”, Marissa said.

“Especially going into fame. We’re very different people and we have very different lives but I can relate to her so much.”

It was at that moment that Roman asked her to turn around. Stunned, a teary Marissa then hugged Eilish.

Following their embrace, Marissa urged others to seek help if they are struggling to cope.

She said: “Life is hard. It’s so hard and I have moments where I’m like, ‘I can’t do this anymore,’ but then you’re not alone. You still feel that in your head because it’s all in your head.

“Mental health is everything, so you always feel alone no matter how much you talk about it. I may feel like, right now, I am alone, but there are hundreds of other people out there who also feel like they’re alone right now so you’re not.”

Thanking the singer for surprising her, she added: “I just want to say, ‘I love you.'”

And Eilish definitely felt the same, saying: “I love you. This has been an amazing interview.”
