The Disney Channel and Liverpool-based Lime Pictures are to film their largest ever UK-production in the city this summer.
Disney Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) have announced they will be filming a new live action multi-part movie, Evermoor with Lime Pictures, who make already make popular series such as Hollyoaks and The Only Way Is Essex.
Evermoor will be a new mystery adventure punctuated with comedy, and it is set to premiere on the Disney Channel in more than 160 countries worldwide from autumn 2014.
Evermoor also breaks new ground as it will become the first live-action movie produced in the UK for broadcast on Disney Channel US.
Tricia Wilber, chief marketing officer for The Walt Disney Company, EMEA & General Manager, Disney Channels EMEA said: “Evermoor is our most ambitious EMEA production yet that builds on our experience of co-producing the global hit series, Violetta.
“We are thrilled to be working with the outstanding team at Lime Pictures on this project.”
The film follows Tara Bailey, an American teenager who has just been uprooted from her city home in the US and brought to Evermoor, a beautiful but isolated village on the edge of some very creepy moors in middle England.
While Tara’s famous novelist mum and step-dad are busy unpacking at Evermoor Manor, the Bailey kids, Tara’s brother Jake and her British step-siblings Seb and Bella, try to adjust to life in their new home.
It’s not long before danger, mystery and intrigue unfurls and Tara and Seb have to unite to save their new home and their family’s new start in England.
David Levine, vice president, programming, production and strategic development, Disney Channels EMEA said: “Evermoor is a hugely exciting project for the team here in EMEA with a gripping story that I’m sure will captivate our global Disney Channel audience.
“The movie’s intriguing cast of characters also gives us a great opportunity to find exciting new talent.”
BAFTA award-winning production company Lime Pictures has been commissioned to produce the multi-part movie created by Tim Compton and Diane Whitley (both House of Anubis), scripted by Bede Blake (House of Anubis, Strange Hill High), produced by Tim Compton and executive produced by Rebecca Hodgson (Good Cop, Stolen).
Claire Poyser, joint managing director for Lime Pictures said: “We are delighted to be the first independent production company in the UK to work with Disney on a live action movie to be aired worldwide including the US.
“Evermoor extends Lime’s reputation for producing fantastic children’s drama that is inspiring for the whole family.”
Evermoor is a co-commission between Disney EMEA and Disney US, and will be broadcast on Disney Channel globally from autumn 2014.
