Twitter isn’t always a friend to celebrities who come on the receiving end of troll abuse, but for X Factor star Marcus Collins and Strictly’s Robin Windsor it’s been more like Cupid.
The loved-up pair have revealed that they got together after Marcus spotted a very buff looking Robin on the cover of the annual naked issue of Gay Times.
The cheeky Crosby singer promptly tweeted dancer Robin to admire his hotness and love has blossomed from there.
The pair have now gone back to where it all began, posing for a couply (and topless) shot on the front of the new edition.
And they are happily discussing how they got together … despite advice from Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden.
“Marcus Tweeted me to say ‘You’re looking really good, well done’!” recalls 34-year-old Robin. “We’d first met at ITV studios a few years ago, when I passed Marcus in the corridor and asked for a photo because he was very handsome. From then on there was no contact whatsoever til I appeared on the GT cover.”
“I thought he looked amazing,” adds Marcus, “My family watch both X Factor and Strictly where all the guys are good looking, but there was one who always stood out for me.”
Before that Tweet, both Marcus and Robin were still coming to terms with recent break-ups. Robin had been engaged but split up last August, while Marcus was two months out of a four year stint.
“It was strange going back into the world of dating,” admits Robin. “After my last relationship ended I was on the rebound and on the warpath thinking, I must find a boyfriend. Deborah Meaden (his celebrity Strictly dance partner last year) told me to get myself together, concentrate on work, forget about men and enjoy life. As soon as I did that, Marcus came along.”
Marcus adds: “I’d been single for two months and forgot about relationships as the end of the last one left me a bit downhearted. I tried dating and it wasn’t really for me, but I didn’t send Robin that message with any expectation that he’d message me back.”
Luckily he did and the rather gorgeous pair have been together ever since.
