He might now have a starring role in Coronation Street, but on Christmas Day actor Les Dennis will be cast … into the kitchen.
“Oh yes, I will be doing all the cooking on Christmas Day,” smiles Les. “Now, ever since I have been on Masterchef, there’s no way I can get out of it!”
On the menu, of course, will be the traditional turkey. And it seems our Jim might have been let out of the Big House for a while to fulfil a few important orders.
“I’ve got our turkey from Charlie Lawson’s farm shop in Prestbury,” says Les, of his Corrie cast mate.
“No it wasn’t in my contract, but he lives just down the road from me and I did a charity thing for him earlier this year.
“He said he would sort me out with a turkey at Christmas as a thank you.”
Elsewhere, when it comes to orders, children Eleanor, six, and Tom, three, have been putting their requests into Santa.
“Eleanor always wants a real doggy,” Les tells Insider, “even though she already has one.
“She’s asked for a real doggy and a real cat … she’ll be happy when we’ve got a menagerie.
“But she will probably get some lovely toys. It is so exciting when they are small.”
Before then Les is planning on a family celebration in Liverpool with his eldest son, Philip, 35, with a visit to his favourite restaurant.
“I’m coming over to have a family Christmas meal with him and his mum, Lynn. And we will be going to my favourite restaurant, the Yuet Ben.”
