Liverpool celebs turn out to celebrate Royal Television Society Awards

 

Liverpool stars have shown their talent after being nominated for Royal Television Society awards tonight, with the winners revealed at a glittering ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The city’s screenwriter Jimmy McGovern was up for both Best Script Writer for his TV drama Common, with the show also being up for Best Single Drama, but lost out to Peter Bowker for Marvellous.

Actress Sheridan Smith was also nominated for best actress for her role in ITV’s Cilla.

She was up against Georgina Campbell for her role in BBC3 drama Murdered By My Boyfriend and Happy Valley’s Sarah Lancashire, and was pipped to the post as Sarah Lancashire took home the award.

Sheridan opted for a slicked back hairstyle, teamed with a floor length black lace dress, which had a plunging sheer neckline.

Other Liverpool celebrities turned out for the event, with St Helens-born Johnny Vegas, and Garston’s Les Dennis taking to the glittering blue carpet.
