Daniel Sturridge has been busy cooking up a nutritious meal with his mum Grace aheard of Mother’s Day.

The pair laughed as they prepared the protein packed ‘Sturrcrazy’ meal and mum Grace even revealed that the footballer “can lend his hand in the kitchen with any woman when he finds the right one.”

The 25-year-old prepared chicken thighs, quinoa and “four of the five a day” in the healthy meal, as he proved why he is a Sainbury’s Active Kids Ambassador.

Daniel said: “My mum and I had a lot of fun in the kitchen, and the food was amazing. I’d like to think I’m a pretty good cook now which is all down to her. It would be great to see more kids cooking in the kitchen with their parents this Mother’s Day and starting to understand more about healthy eating.”

The striker decided to cook the meal for Mother’s Day as the celebration falls on a Sunday, and the family would usually eat a meal consisting of chicken or lamb, rice and peas, which is “standard for most Caribbean homes on a Sunday”.

Grace Sturridge, said: “I’ve always loved cooking and I tried to involve my children when they were growing up so they understood what they were eating. I like to experiment with new flavours, which is how I came to make my ‘Sturrcrazy’ sauce, and now we can’t have a family meal without it.

“Daniel’s cooking skills are definitely coming on, and with his sport he fully understands nutrition and healthy eating, but he still calls me for help sometimes.”
