Hollywood film star Colin Farrell has sent a video of support to Liverpool FC LGBT Supporters ahead of Liverpool Pride.
The A-list actor recorded a short video message from Los Angeles in the run up to the march on Saturday, August 1.
In the video, he quotes the lyrics ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ and sends his love from across the Atlantic.
The True Detective star, famous for films including Phone Booth and Miami Vice, wishes his “brothers and sisters” all the best at the upcoming event.
He tells them: “Hope you all have a great day.
“And [be] strong as one, You’ll never walk alone and walk with pride at the Pride guys, have a great day out there.”
Paul Amann, chairman of Liverpool FC Supporters, explains it came about thanks to Liverpool writer Frank Cottrell Boyce.
He tells the ECHO: “Basically I engaged with Frank Cottrell Boyce because I knew he was a Liverpool fan. He said ‘Sorry mate I’m away but I’ll do you a video of support’.
“Then he said he’d get a video of someone more high profile and the next thing I know he tweeted to say he would email me the completed video.”
Paul says he had no idea it was a message from the superstar and says his support is, of course, “brilliant”.
He adds: “I was really delighted to have such a great actor showing solidarity and respect.
“I really appreciate that Frank asked Colin and he spent time out of his busy schedule to send a message of support.
“It hopefully sends the message about the sort of society that good people want us to have.”
