Former Reds star Jamie Redknapp has quashed rumours that he and wife Louise will be hitting the dancefloor this autumn for the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Ex-sportsmen have a good track record on the BBC dance show, but sadly it looks at though the Liverpool legend turned pundit won’t be the next to lift the famous glitterball trophy.
Jamie and Louise had be rumoured to be in the new line-up, yet to be revealed, but a spokeswoman for the couple said they definitely weren’t taking part.
“The story reported is completely untrue. Jamie and Louise are not appearing in Strictly this year,” the spokeswoman told the Press Association. The BBC added that they “don’t comment on speculation regarding line-up”.
If the Redknapps were to take to the Strictly ballroom they would not be the first Mr and Mrs to do so.
Sports presenter Gabby Logan and her husband, retired rugby player Kenny, took part in the show in 2007, while two of the professional dancers – James and Ola Jordan – are also a married couple.
Bollywood star Amy Jackson is among the names being mentioned in connection with the new series, along with former This Morning presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton, Peter Andre, EastEnder Shane Richie and Loose Women’s Jamelia.
