Celebrity Big Brother summer 2015: Who is Natasha Hamilton?

 

Liverpool’s Natasha Hamilton is best known as one third of pop group Atomic Kitten – and she’s now adding Celebrity Big Brother contestant to her CV.

During her career the hard-working mum-of-four has also appeared on stage alongside the Fonz himself Henry Winkler, showed off her cooking skills on Celebrity Come Dine With Me and played Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers.

Here’s our essential guide to all things Natasha…

1. She started singing at the age of 12

2. Born in July 1982, Natasha grew up in Kensington and started singing and performing in the Starlight Show Group.

3. Natasha has revealed her favourite childhood band was Eternal and she also loved Take That. She said she had their posters all over her bedroom walls and admitted: “I had the biggest crush on Robbie Williams”.

4. She once wanted to be a spy

5. Natasha went to Broughton Hall High School in West Derby and says her ambition was to become a singer or a spy.

6. Natasha was three when she was knocked down by a car in Liverpool and is now passionate about improving road safety for children. She has supported charity Brake’s campaign to make the roads safer for children.

7. She wasn’t an original member of Atomic Kitten

8. Natasha replaced Heidi Range in Atomic Kitten in May 1999. The group burst onto the scene with debut single Right Now and went on to sell more than 10,000,000 records globally.

9. Natasha made headlines after the birth of her daughter Ella when she started taking placenta pills.

10. Shortly after the birth of first son Josh, Natasha began to suffer from post-natal depression, a time which she has dubbed the “darkest” of her life. She said: “I felt so isolated and frightened. I suffered in silence for nine months, to a point where I thought I was going crazy, because stupidly I felt guilty for feeling so unhappy,”

11. She also suffered with panic attacks when she was in enclosed spaces in the early stages of her pregnancy with Ella, and was told she was experiencing prenatal depression – something she wasn’t aware existed.

13. Natasha has been targeted by cruel Twitter trolls because her four children Josh, Harry, Alfie and Ella have different dads – dubbing her a “4×4 mum”.

15. Natasha was invited to be a special guest on the Endless Love singer’s UK tour in 2007.

16. She was named Rear of the Year in 2003

17. Natasha said she was flattered to win the title in 2003, just months after giving birth to son Josh. The male winner that year was Boyzone singer Ronan Keating.

18. She said at the time: “I am chuffed seeing as I had Josh just seven and a half months ago. I don’t know how I keep my shape – I must have been very lucky.”

19. Natasha appeared in the 2009 pantomime at the Liverpool Empire alongside Les Dennis and none other than The Fonz himself Henry Winkler.

20. She won £22,000 for charity on TV game shows

21. Natasha scooped £7,250 for Wipe Your Tears, a charity supporting terminally ill children, as a contestant on a celebrity edition of The Chase. And in 2014, she won £15,000 for the Dogs Trust on an episode of ITV game show Big Star’s Little Star

22. The singer’s collaboration with Mischa Daniels on Round and Round earned the duo a number one single in Brazil. It also made the US dance top 20.
