Hollyoaks star Nicole Barber-Lane has relived her anguish after her daughter almost died last Christmas.
The soap star has spoken of the ordeal when her girl Jemma Healey-Lane was rushed to hospital last Christmas Eve.
Nicole, who plays the McQueen family matriarch Myra, says the incident has made her live her own life to the max.
And she now wants to raise awareness to help other people like Jemma, who has a nut allergy.
She explains: “She had a chocolate brownie that had ground walnuts in and had a severe reaction on Christmas Eve.
“The ambulance took her into hospital and they kept her in.
“It was the worst night as if she had a third reaction, she would’ve stopped breathing all together.”
Thankfully Jemma, from Warrington, was well enough to come home on Christmas Day.
Nicole says: “The relief to know that she was OK was the best Christmas present ever.
“It was the worst Christmas Eve for the best Christmas Day.
“It’s only now looking back I realised how much it has affected us all.”
Nicole said what happened to her daughter – and her positive attitude to enjoy every minute – inspires her each day.
She explains: “She has made lots of changes to her life now, and life is too short.
“To ‘live life’ is very much her motto. She encourages me to live mine to the max.”
