The Met Gala 2016 saw most of Hollywood’s and Britain’s biggest stars turning out for the red carpet event.
And this year, many of the celebrities followed the metallics theme and shimmered in shiny couture as they posed for the cameras.
Brit stars Rita Ora, Sienna Miller, Jordan Dunn and Poppy Delevingne all stood out in silver gowns, but Emma Watson chose something a little different as she went for an unusual Calvin Klein suit which was created from woven fabrics, from yarns all made from recycled plastic bottles!
Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift, Kate Upton, Kristen Stewart and other members of Hollywood’s hottest all sported metallic numbers too.
But it was Beyonce, who wore a peach beaded latex number, and showed off her curvaceous figure who caught everyone’s attention after the hype around the recent release of her Lemonade album, as she rocked the red carpet alone, with Jay Z nowhere to be seen.
The Met Gala was celebrating the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new exhibit, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, which provided the gala’s theme of the merging of man and machine.
Tickets for the invitation-only event reportedly cost 30,000 dollars each (£20,500) or up to 275,000 dollars (£188,000) for a table, with the money raised going to the museum’s costume institute.
Met Gala chairwoman, Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, had the final say over the guest list of around 600 people and arrived at the gala with her daughter Bee Shaffer, both donned Chanel floorlength dresses.
