If you’re wondering later why it feels like there’s something missing from tonight’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing – that’s because judge Bruno Tonioli isn’t there.
He has not missed a single episode in the 13-year history of Strictly but he will be conspicuous by his absence tonight.
That’s because, according to the BBC, he has a “very busy work schedule”.
A BBC spokesman told the Mirror Online : “As was always the plan, Bruno Tonioli is not on the judging panel this weekend due to a very busy work schedule.
“He will be back as normal for our Halloween special and the rest of the series.”
And Bruno himself tweeted about his absence, replying to a fan: “100% back next week just had a clash whilst in DancingABC xx”
According to the BBC, it has been confirmed that 61-year-old Bruno will not be replaced with a guest judge.
Bruno is one of four judges on Strictly who critique and mark the contestants – along with Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and latest addition, Wallasey-born Shirley Ballas.
Shirley replaced head judge Len Goodman after he left the role at the end of the last series. She has been well-received by fans, although last week she caused confusion when she seemingly forgot the name of one of the contestants.
She called Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins by the wrong name after she and dance partner Brendan Cole performed a jive to Bruno Mars’ Marry You.
The judges were quick to say she’d made great improvements from previous weeks.
However, when delivering her verdict, “Queen of Latin” Shirley perhaps didn’t think it was a memorable performance – as she mistook Charlotte for her competitor Mollie King.
