Freddie Starr’s carer has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she found him dead at his home.
Nelly said she had breakfast with Freddie on Thursday and he seemed like his usual cheerful self.
She then left him, but became concerned later on when she couldn’t get hold of him – reports Mirror Online.
Nelly returned to his home in Feungirola, where she found the comedian dead.
Freddie has led a reclusive life in his later years, after he struggled to battle health problems and money troubles.
He’s believed to have spent most of his time alone at the two-bed £170,000 townhouse in the hills above the town of Mijas.
The only person he’s believed to have seen on a regular basis was his carer, Nelly, who came in several times to check on him.
There are reports that Freddie got himself into thousands of pounds-worth of debt from unpaid water bills and community fees.
He was reportedly being threatened with legal action after refusing to pay a four-figure debt to community managers looking after the Costa del Sol residential complex he lived on.
In his last Facebook post, Starr revealed he was tired, but ok.
He wrote: “Hello everyone hope everyone is ok ? Me yes I’m ok getting tired more now but otherwise I’m doing good
“I just have to say thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the kind comments and messages it really does mean a lot so thank you to each and everyone of you thanks so much . Freddie”.
The late star also joked about his weight when he shared what’s thought to be the last picture of him back in January.
Starr’s health had been causing him troubles over the last few years and he went into a downward spiral after his appearance on I’m A Celeb back in 2011.
In 2015 he lost a High Court damages claim, leaving him with an estimated £1 million legal bill.
He was later diagnosed with a lung disease before he sold up and moved to Spain, where he lived out the rest of his days.
