Louise Redknapp has opened up about her “toughest” year yet, saying that “heartbreak is a killer.”
The 45-year-old got divorced from husband Jamie, 46, at the end of 2018, following their split in 2017.
The mum-of-two shared a collage of her top moments from the year with her 666,000 Instagram followers alongside the emotional post – reports OK! Online.
She wrote: “I don’t often open up on social media, but tonight seems like a good time to.
“Creatively this year has been my best yet writing and recording my new album Heavy Love and performing in the west end, but emotionally it has been my toughest year and I’ve faced challenges I never thought I would.
“Heartbreak is a killer so I want to thank my boys, my family, my friends and all of you who have been kind over the last 12 months. So Let’s take on 2020 like we mean it!”
Louise’s heartfelt admission comes as Jamie soaks up the sun in Miami with their two children.
In snaps taken of the trio spending quality time together on the beach Jamie appeared relaxed and happy as he took part in ballgames with his boys.
Louise resurrected her music career after the end of her marriage, and is back with a new album Heavy Love.
At the launch, Louise received a standing ovation and opened up about how she’d written about the tough times she’d gone through.
Fans of the former Eternal singer were quick to throw their support behind the star, with one writing: “World is your oyster Lou … you are smashing it .. love you and all the woman that you are.”
She told the crowd: “When you make a new album after 18 years it’s so scary. As it was well documented I went through some really tough tough years.
“My mum always encouraged me to write down my feelings.
A second added: “Heartbreak is the worst pain. But with your best girls (and boys) right beside you, you’ll get there happy new year.”
While a third chimed: “It’s such a joy to see you back. Not only that, you have released some of the best pop music in the last handful of years. I’m so excited for the tour, the album and HMV event. Looking forward to celebrating even more in 2020.”
One fan credited the Strictly Come Dancing favourite for helping them through their own pain, telling her: “I echo this sentiment!
“The last few months have not been great for me as I’ve been quite ill but I do enjoy seeing your posts on here and your positivity surrounding your many projects.
“One of the highlights for me was seeing you in 9 to 5 in London in the summer and meeting you very briefly at the stage door after the show – something I don’t normally do after shows.
“I am looking forward to your album in a couple of weeks and the deluxe packages that have been made available – they should be quite special…Keep up the good work!”
