Cops defend ice cream in viral photo

Freeze!

A couple of Texas cops struck a pose in a blue wall of defiance against would-be lickers of Blue Bell ice cream.

“Ain’t nobody licking our Blue Bell!” reads a caption on the image posted by the Bellaire Police Officer’s Association page on Facebook on Saturday.

The photo has been shared more than 2,300 times.

“Bellaire’s finest, protecting Texas’ finest,” user Sonja Harpst Gillette wrote in response.

“If they’re watching the Blue Bell, who’s watching the doughnuts?” asked Tim Goodman, who was advised by the police association that the Fire Department took over that detail for the day.

On July 5, the Lufkin Police Department identified the girl who was seen in a viral video licking a tub of Blue Bell before putting it back on the shelf.

She eventually confessed to the creamy crime after being busted with her boyfriend, who filmed the gross video.

Since the girl is under 17, police have decided not to scoop her up and charge her for “tampering with a consumer product.”

Her video prompted a copy-cat ice cream-licker in Louisiana, leading Blue Bell to announce Monday that it would whip up more protection for its products.

A Walmart in Corpus Christi, Texas, located several hours away from Lufkin, also has stationed a worker with a water gun outside the freezer section.

But the two heat-packing Bellaire cops raised the stakes further, hoping to put the chill on the slurpy spree.
